This series of solid-colored encaustic tiles was created so that there’s always something to perfectly coordinate with any patterned encaustic. Use encaustic black cement tiles alone to make a monochromatic statement or mix and match with other solids and patterns to design a unique room. Even the solid colors of these wall and floor tiles will have natural variation and interest because they are hand mixed before being poured.

NOTE: This is hand-made, rustic cement tile. With cement tile of this nature, there will be color and texture variations from piece to piece. Color shading can vary even on a single tile. Chips or texture variations may exist. This is normal and not considered a defect for handmade tiles. It is advised to order all cement tile needed for a project. Subsequent orders can come in with shade variations. Samples of colors ordered can vary from actual shading or product received in a final ordered placed. Average lead time for most cement tile orders is approximately 4-8 weeks. Please inquire about current lead times prior to ordering.
One popular use of concrete tiles is mixing them with hardwoods in a more casual and eclectic entertainment space. Transition from hardwood floors to tile for a more food-and-drink-friendly space by placing honeycomb tiles piece by piece until they form a complete transition. The look is one that blends two totally different flooring materials in a cool and unexpected way.
If you’re looking for an easy and cost-effective way to update or refresh one of the rooms in your home, backsplash tile is a great option. Backsplash tiles offer the perfect pop of color, texture and pattern while adding to the functionality of the kitchen, by protecting the walls from splashes and stains. It’s a small enough area that it won’t overwhelm the space, but it makes a big impact on the entire kitchen.
Cement tiles – also known as encaustic tiles - are quickly becoming a trendy design option for home and business owners of all kinds, tastes, and budgets. However modern they may seem, cement tile has been used in homes and shops since the end of the 19th century. Only the wealthiest and most prestigious had cement tiles in their homes and businesses for their superior quality and durability, and for their one-of-a-kind designs. Nowadays, just about anyone can take advantage of the beauty and benefits of this product. If you’re interested in furnishing your home or business with an artisanal, handmade product, then cement tiles from Granada Tile are what you’ve been searching for.
not typically a fan of shades of green, we decided to begin to collect emerald-colored images onto a pinboard to see if they continued to capture our curiosity. we can’t believe it’s already managed to become one of our favorite pinboards. inspired by these beautiful images we have added green colorways to many of our cement patterns and even our watermark! who knew shades of green would capture us and our clients curiosity in such a big way?
if clé cement tiles are pre-polished and pre-sealed, why do I have to use a grout release? clé is pleased to offer cement tiles that are pre-polished and pre-sealed. if you have witnessed the difference in cement tiles without this hand-rubbed finish, you know that clé cement tiles’ smooth finish helps our tiles through transportation blemishes and the first stages of installation care. HOWEVER, grouts are very problematic to cement tiles and taking extra care against staining is essential to success. please be sure to ALWAYS use grout release.
Next roundup idea: super-slender console tables! You know how sometimes you need something that doesn’t have a big footprint, in a narrow older hallway or odd room? I’d love to see a roundup of consoles that are less than a foot deep, and bonus points if you include some that have storage and aren’t just gorgeous expensive art-furniture that I can’t cram wet gloves into.
In the whole process of building a boutique hotel from scratch - including the construction, media and interior design - Granada Tile was by far our most professional partner. We envisioned a place created with Nicaraguan resources and Granada Tile is preserving history and formatting it in a contemporary way as we did. The quality of the tiles is outstanding and we would reckon they will still be there in hundreds of years. There is just one way to go when you are looking for original high quality cement tiles.

We also regret using cement tiles. They look great on day 1, but even properly sealed they stain. We are very careful with our tiles, but inevitably something will happen. Once we accidentally dripped toilet bowl cleaner on the floor and they literally bleached the tile, even though it was cleaned immediately. Also, we have a floating toilet and there is a definite urine stain below the bowl for all the times guests "miss". This does not come out even with some good scrubbing. The recommended solution for stains is to sand and reseal the floor. I don't mind a "lived in" look, but I certainly don't like pee stains and drip marks from each time I accidentally spill something. And I am certainly not planning to sand and seal my bathroom floor every one or two years, per the manufacturers suggestions.
Concrete tiles are best known for their unmatched durability that has been used in houses and buildings since the end of the 19th century. The mixture of cement, sand, and water and their preparation in a specific pressure makes them extremely long lasting. Since concrete tiles have color inlaid in them, they are called encaustic concrete tiles. Concrete tiles are pretty versatile. From homes to offices to dams, they work everywhere due to their strength. They come in the incredible amount of colors, designs, and patterns. You can choose the perfect one according to the requirement of your surroundings. You can find concrete tiles in any color or pattern in our tile store.
Everything I’ve found online recommends an impregnator/penetrating sealer for cement tiles. Cement tiles are super porous meaning they’ll stain easily, so you have to seal them prior to grouting. I plan to use this sealer product. And then I’ll grout them with either a bright white grout or an off-white grout that matches the field color of the tile. We ended up with 1/4″ grout lines (which is 1/8″ thicker than the manufacturer recommends…oops), so I’ll use a sanded grout. Stay tuned for that.
We are thrilled that the show used our Bouquet II pattern in an episode of this season’s show. The episode is titled “Arched Mediterranean Kitchen” (Season 11, Episode 2) and follows a couple as they get a complete kitchen renovation. Our handmade cement tile is used on the kitchen backsplash to create a unique centerpiece for the space. The Bouquet cement tile pattern blends in perfectly with the new kitchen’s Mediterranean theme.
The newly-opened Finn’s Southern Kitchen in Louisville is housed in the former offices of an 1800 era cotton mill. The building was recently converted into Finn’s restaurant while preserving many of its deco features such as the glass blocking, flooring, moldings, entrance features as well as returning the windows to their original size and splendor.
Thanks, Julia. I think it feels traditional too. Right now, I think I will just leave the backsplash painted rather than add anything else. I may change my mind down the road. The area behind the sink is actually too narrow for any sort of backsplash at all. There is a window right there, and the apron goes down within an inch or two of the countertop.
Using a tile saw, I made the first few cuts. (We rent most of our tools from a local rental company, but Home Depot rents a wide variety of tools for DIYers.) The key to getting the backsplash level vertically and horizontally was all riding on the first row. The shape of the opening for the stove required that I cut off the bottom of the first four tiles. Because the height was slightly off on the left and right side, I used scraps of cardboard to raise the tile on the left side the negligible amount necessary to make it perfectly level with the right side.
Yeah cement tiles might be a strange style for a colonial, but you never know…it could be lovely. Unfortunately my husband had the range hood built and drywalled in a day when I wasn’t at the Dexter House so I don’t have any progress photos for you. He thought a wood hood would be easier to build (like he did at the Ravenna House) but I really wanted the plaster look and in the end, it was really easy to build too. Good luck with your’s – I’d love to see photos!

The best way to add color variation and pattern in a neutral bathroom that you want to keep soft and serene is to upgrade the floors with bright and airy patterned concrete floor tiles. Tiling the floors will make enough of a statement that turns a plain bathroom into an elegant one, without distracting from the calm and spa-like vibe of the rest of the space. We love the Normandy tile in white and soft grey for this application. The swirling traditional pattern offers just enough visual variation and interest, without looking busy. The white and grey keep everything serene and neutral, but add that extra touch a plain bathroom needs to take it from blah to beautiful.
The First Layer: The wear layer, also called the concrete tile face, is a mixture of highly resistant Portland white cement, powdered white marble and natural pigments. Wear resistance, color and brightness rely on the quality of this layer. The finished encaustic tile has the natural finish surface and these hand-crafted floor tiles can be sealed or polished.
