The tone of the tiles depends on the aesthetic you want. If you want something rustic, go for dark floors. For that gray toned cement tiles will look great. You can get polished concrete tiles for a smooth finish on the floor and for easy cleaning as well. It is also the better option for commercial purposes. Lighter tones are better if you want a bright home.

Many homeowners prefer subdued neutral tones in their kitchen, to ensure that it will remain beautiful and up-to-date for a long time. However, neutral colors don’t have to mean plain and boring; you can choose a cement backsplash tile pattern in a neutral tone, like off-white or gray, and enjoy a unique pattern and texture without overwhelming the space with bright colors.
The divider is set into the mold. This is what will separate the colors to create the surface of the concrete tile. Each color is poured into its specific section of the divider. Once each color section is filled, the divider is removed and a mixture of fine sand and Portland cement is applied. This is the second layer and is used as a drier and to reinforce the first layer of the cement tile.

this page is of particular importance to your encaustic cement tile installation. this is because the highest degree of incidence with cement tile installations are based on failures that occur using the wrong grout or the wrong grouting methods. remember, your tiles are cement and they can be stained with the grout pigment as this pigment is the exact colorant that is used to pigment cement tiles.

You can find concrete tile patterns that fit any room size. You're not limited to standard-sized squares. Although you can certainly recreate the look of tiles with repeating squares, concrete allows more versatility for including cutouts and embeds, imprinted patterns, three-dimensional sculptural designs, and more. Check out these images of concrete tile patterns or view the entire concrete tile photo gallery:
Making the cuts and setting each row took such a long time that I kept having to add more water to the mortar. Even though I had the bucket covered with a wet towel, it dried out quickly. The whole process came to a screeching halt every time I needed to attend to the mortar. I was really wishing for a tiling partner after a few hours into this project. Future tile jobs will be two-person jobs around here.
Jordan Design-Build Group is a full-service residential design-build firm serving the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. For a recent remodel project a client wanted to go big and bold in the kitchen whilst maintaining an eclectic style. Using our Patchwork Random selection of colorful cement tiles, they created a ceiling-high backsplash that acts as the focal point of the room. This series of solid-colored encaustic tiles was created so that there’s always something to perfectly coordinate with any patterned encaustic. Use encaustic sky-blue cement tiles alone to make a monochromatic statement or mix and match with other solids and patterns to design a unique room. Even the solid colors of these wall and floor tiles will have natural variation and interest because they are hand mixed before being poured.
Yeah cement tiles might be a strange style for a colonial, but you never know…it could be lovely. Unfortunately my husband had the range hood built and drywalled in a day when I wasn’t at the Dexter House so I don’t have any progress photos for you. He thought a wood hood would be easier to build (like he did at the Ravenna House) but I really wanted the plaster look and in the end, it was really easy to build too. Good luck with your’s – I’d love to see photos!
Cement tiles – also known as encaustic tiles - are quickly becoming a trendy design option for home and business owners of all kinds, tastes, and budgets. However modern they may seem, cement tile has been used in homes and shops since the end of the 19th century. Only the wealthiest and most prestigious had cement tiles in their homes and businesses for their superior quality and durability, and for their one-of-a-kind designs. Nowadays, just about anyone can take advantage of the beauty and benefits of this product. If you’re interested in furnishing your home or business with an artisanal, handmade product, then cement tiles from Granada Tile are what you’ve been searching for.
pink has gone crazy at clé. mostly because it's going through the roof, everywhere. it is the season for shades of pink and red afterall (valentine's day). we were compelled to create a pink pinboard and found that once we started our pinboard, there was nooooooo turning back- today a peek at our "pin-k board" and some of our favorite shades of pink and red zellige tiles...
Then it was my turn!  This was my first time installing cement tiles and I found it to be…well…pretty easy.  I used an acrylic, pre-mixed tile adhesive (mostly because I’m lazy and HATE mixing up mortar) and a trowel with large teeth.  Per the tile manufacturer’s instructions, I cleaned the back of each tile prior to laying them on the adhesive.  Cement tiles are heavier than any tiles I’ve worked with before, so I put extra care into making sure the backing was evenly applied with large grooves from the trowel.   I don’t want any of these suckers popping off the wall and falling into a pot of stew when I finally get the chance to cook in this kitchen!

The Ciment cement floor and wall tile in blue and white sky offers a monochrome blue old-world design set on a white background. These tiles are set on a 1” cement base where color is poured over it into a mold, pressed in a hydraulic press and baked at extremely high temperatures. These handmade tiles offer natural variations and chips, which are reflections of traditional cement tile. Best for interior floors and walls, these and all cement tiles require sealing. Please refer to the sealing...
this step is not required, however, after the grout is dry (usually after 48 hours) you may elect to use a 17” floor polisher with a sand screen pad over the green pad to clean and finish the cement tiles. you will want to wet the floor enough so that the floor polisher is always working on a wet surface. This step will take care and experience so only proceed if your contractor has used this step in the past.

Cement tiles have been revered for their unmatched durability, crack and chip-resistance, waterproof finish, and incredible amount of designs and possibilities available for years. Hard wood floors continue to be a popular choice among home and business owners for their perceived value and aesthetic. However, hard woods are limited in use, and while they look gorgeous at first, they can quickly become scratched, faded, and warped due to water damage. Ceramic tiles are a lovely alternative to hard woods but history has shown us that they aren’t the most durable option either. The cement tiles at Granada Tile are hand-poured and set by an immense amount of pressure to create a nearly impenetrable product. They come in so many more looks than hard woods, and eliminate virtually all of the associated concerns of wood floors and ceramic tile.
