Additionally, encaustic tile works best in certain environments. It does not work well in seasonal climates with freeze and thaw cycles because the shift in temperature can cause lifting of the tile. Encaustic cement floor tiles also shouldn’t be used near chemically-treated water, like pool surrounds because the chemicals can fade and damage the design.
Cement tiles have been revered for their unmatched durability, crack and chip-resistance, waterproof finish, and incredible amount of designs and possibilities available for years. Hard wood floors continue to be a popular choice among home and business owners for their perceived value and aesthetic. However, hard woods are limited in use, and while they look gorgeous at first, they can quickly become scratched, faded, and warped due to water damage. Ceramic tiles are a lovely alternative to hard woods but history has shown us that they aren’t the most durable option either. The cement tiles at Granada Tile are hand-poured and set by an immense amount of pressure to create a nearly impenetrable product. They come in so many more looks than hard woods, and eliminate virtually all of the associated concerns of wood floors and ceramic tile.

We do not recommend installing cement tile outdoors in places that experience extreme frost and freeze in winter. Cement tiles are also unable to withstand the weight of vehicles and therefore should never be used in driveways. Wall tiles can be affixed to plaster, drywall, cement block, and cement backer board. The installation surface should be flat and dry with any loose paint removed and cracked surfaces patched prior to installing cement tiles.
We process container orders with load from 20 feet to high cubed containers. The kitchen remodel is creeping along. We have discovered that even hiring out most of the project to the Lowe’s remodeling team does not mean that we can escape the fact that the last 10% of all remodeling projects seems to take 90% of the time. At this stage of the kitchen renovation, it is a joint venture of paid projects and DIY.  We are playing a game of project ping-pong with Lowe’s.  I serve the ball to them, and they complete their tasks. They lob it back over the net to us, and it is our turn to work. With this pattern firmly established,  we all stay on task. Last week, when the ball was back on our side of the table, I completed the cement tile backsplash

Cutting cement tiles takes a bit of extra patience because they’re harder and thicker than the ceramic tiles I’m used to working with.  I found that cutting them face-up allowed for fewer chips on the face of the tile.  When cutting these beauties, you have to be aware of the pattern.  I cut the right and left edges off of 4 tiles.  Then I laid these 3″ strips into the backsplash and called my work done.
This series of solid-colored encaustic tiles was created so that there’s always something to perfectly coordinate with any patterned encaustic. Use encaustic white cement tiles alone to make a monochromatic statement or mix and match with other solids and patterns to design a unique room. Even the solid colors of these wall and floor tiles will have natural variation and interest because they are hand mixed before being poured.

Concrete tile patterns add too many design styles including Spanish style home decor, Hacienda, Spanish Colonial...
With countless design options ranging from simple tones and curves to vibrant tones and bold designs, concrete and cement tiles from Westside Tile & Stone, Inc. provide an affordable tile flooring and design options, combinations, layouts, and applications. Since we are professional concrete tile contractors in greater Los Angeles area, we can offer you the best deals and varieties.
The main difference between concrete and ceramic tiles is, unlike ceramic tiles, the design of cement tiles isn’t painted on top of the tile, but is a solid part of the tile itself. Ceramic tiles are made with color pigments on the surface and topped with a glaze. The fact that the design is applied to the top of the tile is what causes ceramic tiles to scratch and fade. The manufacturing process of concrete tiles is what gives them their strength and resistance to the typical wear and tear you see on ceramic tiles.
Concrete tiles offer the best of both worlds for the home and business owner who wants nothing short of elegant and functional. If you’re looking for a flooring material that is beautiful, low maintenance, and cost efficient, look no further than the concrete floor tiles from Granada Tile. We offer a wide variety of tile patterns, colors, shapes, and sizes, that are based on modern trends, timeless designs, and historical influences.
The tone of the tiles depends on the aesthetic you want. If you want something rustic, go for dark floors. For that gray toned cement tiles will look great. You can get polished concrete tiles for a smooth finish on the floor and for easy cleaning as well. It is also the better option for commercial purposes. Lighter tones are better if you want a bright home.

Whether it’s spills, splashes, or splatters, the kitchen is often on the receiving end of some pretty tough messes. If you’re not careful, you can easily end up with a kitchen covered in food stains and grease spatters, which can lead to a dingy appearance or even lingering odors. In our opinion, the kitchen should be a source of comfort; a place where families and friends can gather around, share a meal, and spend quality time together. We love to see kitchens live up to their potential. That’s why we at Riad love to see our cement tiles being used to create kitchen backsplashes.
With our Euro partner, Mosaico, we provided the tile for this London England UK kitchen and outdoor terrace. We love the clean, crisp look and how the small kitchen is made so much larger by the extension of the matching outdoor terrace. The client wrote, "We love the tiles so much...You can see we have bi-folding doors that lead into the external courtyard area... in the spring and summertime it really open up our little kitchen. We are very pleased with the result."

Concrete tiles are often produced by local manufacturers and use recycled materials, such as crushed glass, recycled aggregates, and silica fume (a byproduct from other industrial processes). In addition, concrete tiles are so durable, they rarely require replacement. If you ever do decide to replace them, the concrete can be recycled. Unless your backyard space is livable and inviting, you probably don’t spend as much time in it as you’d like. The key to making a backyard more comfortable is to create a living space that brings the indoors, out. Our favorite way to do this? Tile a space in the backyard with durable and beautiful cement floor tiles. Add in comfortable furniture and an outdoor fireplace or an outdoor kitchen, and you’ve got a recipe for the ultimate backyard living space. Learn all the ways cement tiles are great for an outdoor living space, why they are better than pavers and poured concrete, and some ideas for how to bring them into your backyard.
since our beginning at clé, we have become known for our tile collaborations with artists and designers, however, it is our long-term aim to broaden everyone's concept of tile and to transform it from being a functional backdrop to a more artful, provocative facet of our surroundings. to that end we have sought out heirloom quality tiles from across the globe. our tile offerings now extend from classic moroccan zellige (which we helped put on the map in the US), glazed raku-fired tiles from Vietnam, rustic italian terracotta and carrara stone to thin clay bricks domestically sourced.
I have to admit I chuckled a little hearing that it’s national ceramic tile day. Is there anything without a national day? This post is an absolute godsend. There’s about 10 different placed in my home that I want to add ceramic tile to. We have a midcentury raised ranch that is so cookie-cutter-vanilla-suburbia it makes me want to cry. I need to add some (appropriate) spice to this house ASAP!
I had searched around but found no one with authentic Moroccan tiles (some are from China, so don't be fooled). Then I found Zellij Gallery I decided to see if they had genuine Moroccan tiles & they did! I was super exciting. The moment I entered I felt welcomed. They had a great selection, beautiful designs, great colors to choose from. I decided to go with intricate Fassi design tiles, which represented the true Moroccan beauty as well as it would brighten up my kitchen. For the flooring, the Sala sheets composed of 2x2 inch Moroccan tiles in the color bone looked remarkable. Once my order was delivered. Faissel went a step further and came to assist the installers by making sure the tiles were done properly. He was extremely helpful! The end result was incredible. I'm happy with my design choices and recommend Zellij Gallery to all wanting to add unique, historic, and modern design into their homes. Thank you!! I can't recommend Zellij Gallery highly enough!

"We create tiles in collaboration with individual artists and with artisans from around the world. We are perpetually on the lookout for new finishes and it often takes at least a good year (or more) to bring a line to market . We were the first to really promote the Moroccan tile, zellige in the US. It took a while for people to embrace the imperfections but now it is one of the hottest items we sell."
Our Moroccan Cement Tile is a type of tile which is made from cement, these tiles are very durable and sturdy, being especially well-suited to high traffic areas, and they come in a range of patterns and colors. Cement tile tends to be about twice as heavy as ceramic tile, and it is less subject to breakage and chipping. Morocco is especially famous for their brightly-colored cement tile designs.
Everything I’ve found online recommends an impregnator/penetrating sealer for cement tiles.  Cement tiles are super porous meaning they’ll stain easily, so you have to seal them prior to grouting.  I plan to use this sealer product.  And then I’ll grout them with either a bright white grout or an off-white grout that matches the field color of the tile.  We ended up with 1/4″ grout lines (which is 1/8″ thicker than the manufacturer recommends…oops), so I’ll use a sanded grout.  Stay tuned for that.
this week we are continuing our celebration of mixing high/lo to give you design inspiration for any project no matter your budget. these mesmerizing pairings of our artists' tile collection mixed with our clé classics are the perfect start to help you create your own dream tile combinations. whether you are creating a space with your pennies or your black american express clé has tile options for you.
Then it was my turn!  This was my first time installing cement tiles and I found it to be…well…pretty easy.  I used an acrylic, pre-mixed tile adhesive (mostly because I’m lazy and HATE mixing up mortar) and a trowel with large teeth.  Per the tile manufacturer’s instructions, I cleaned the back of each tile prior to laying them on the adhesive.  Cement tiles are heavier than any tiles I’ve worked with before, so I put extra care into making sure the backing was evenly applied with large grooves from the trowel.   I don’t want any of these suckers popping off the wall and falling into a pot of stew when I finally get the chance to cook in this kitchen!
The bathroom is another place where cement tile backsplash can brighten the room. In our last blog post, we touched on how our cement tile patterns can bring lasting character to your bathroom in unexpected and exciting ways that you may not have thought of before (check out our use of Havana cement tile for a shower in our last blog post). You may not have thought of using cement tile backsplash for the bathroom before. We think cement tile backsplash in a bathroom is a must have that will suit any style.
