Being situated in the building right next to the John Varvatos store and across the street from glitzy Italian restaurant Cecconi’s (just south of Melrose & Robertson), the company’s new showroom can certainly be considered prime real estate. Not only is it quite a bit easier to find, but it has more square footage and wall space than its predecessor, allowing for more sample board displays. For close to 20 years the space was home to Trigg Ison Fine Art, one of West Hollywood’s top art galleries.
If you don’t install a backsplash, you may feel like the countertop looks incomplete. It will make your kitchen look kind of dull. Therefore, installing backsplash complementing with countertops will bring your design theme to life. it will create continuity in the design that will enhance the overall aesthetic. It is better to install cement tiles for the backsplash as the countertop to maintain the consistency because one can find countless colors, patterns and styles in concrete backsplashes to make a match with any countertop style and pattern. With concrete tile, you can enjoy multiple benefits and customization of Backsplashes.

The hugely popular series, on the DIY Network, follows host Josh Temple as he tries to find a random customer at a home improvement store that will agree to take him to his/her house to help with a home project. After finding a “troubled” area of the home, Josh surprises the individual by agreeing to do a full remodel of the space. The project is then completed in a few short days with the help of the homeowner and friends.
Adhesive, tile spacers, notched trowel, bucket, tape measure, grout and grout sponge. Tip: Pick a grout color that complements your tile, avoid an exact color match. Select one that will be easy to keep clean and try to stay away from bright white, unless you love scrubbing. Seal the cement tiles with a penetrating sealer like HydraGuard first. Install it. Then seal the grout. The sealer protects from grout staining. Premixed grout with sealer is not the best, so use with sanded grout and then seal it. It’s a far better process and better protection.

Some tiles are hand-pressed, others machine pressed. The hand-pressed can be more delicate or fragile because the pressing can be inconsistent. I'm not saying all hand-pressed are to be avoided, you can simply get better consistency when they are hydraulically pressed. If you're getting them from a large manufacturer, they are likely hydraulically pressed.
this has been a constant theme at clé. and recently, we’ve been asking ourselves this question, not just in the way we select our products, support our artists, work with our clients and engage with our team mates. but we’ve also been asking ourselves the bigger question- how can we make a difference every day for one another, in our communities and in our world.

The Ciment cement floor and wall tile in blue and white offers monochrome blue floral design set on a slate blue background. These tiles are set on a 1” cement base where color is poured over it into a mold, pressed in a hydraulic press and baked at extremely high temperatures. These handmade tiles offer natural variations and chips, which are reflections of traditional cement tile. Best for interior floors and walls, these and all cement tiles require sealing. Please refer to the sealing...
Hand painted and hand poured tiles are very different from each other and are actually completely different types of tile. While ceramic tiles are hand painted with glazes and pigments, cement tiles are hand poured with the design set into the tile itself. This difference is what makes cement tiles so much more durable and long-lasting than ceramic tiles. But that’s not all cement tiles are good for. They offer many more benefits and can be used in a number of ways both in and outside your home or business. Learn more about the features and benefits of handmade cement tiles here.
Outdoors: This is where we are used to seeing cement tiles because it really does wear so nicely over the years. It can get expensive if you are doing a large area or don’t already have a hard surface (concrete) to lay the tiles on, but if you have a small courtyard or a little patio off your bedroom or living room (we can all dream) then cement tile can be just the ticket to create that little bit of visual wow.

The maintenance requirements for concrete tiles will vary depending on the application and whether the tiles are used on an exterior or interior surface. For example, concrete tiles used as an interior wall cladding will require very little maintenance, while tiles used on a floor or countertop or on an exterior surface exposed to the elements will require regular cleaning and resealing to keep them looking their best. Read these how-to tips for cleaning concrete floors, countertops, and exterior surfaces.

the polishing is completed with a light penetrating sealer that allows the tiles to ship without the abrasion issues that are prevalent when shipping pigmented tiles. this sealant also assists through the first stages of installation (setting and pre-grouting). we keep the sealant light so that it doesn't act as a bond barrier for the setting material. this is why we require additional sealant prior to grouting (to help prevent grout staining).
Leaving those beauties stacked in the corner while Garrett finished drywalling was akin to torture.  Okay, that’s probably a little harsh, but I’m just not a patient person when it comes to finishing a kitchen.  It’s only a hair easier than waiting for your baby to arrive after they’ve been cooking for over 41 weeks (not going to happen this time…right baby?!).

While hardly a modern material, encaustic tiles are very popular in the home decorating and interior design world. Homeowners of all tastes are turning towards tiles, specifically cement tiles, for their unique patterns, vivid colors, and practical qualities. If you’ve been looking into this endearing material, you may have come across varying terms and descriptions, and some confusion over what you’re actually looking for. Some sources describe encaustic cement tiles, and others say cement tiles aren’t actually encaustic. So which is it?

Since it is just not cement, a concrete tile offers various features like durability, easier cleaning and maintenance. With regular cleaning, it is fairly easy to maintain the durability. It is recommended to use clean water and microfiber mop each time. You can mix water with neutral cleansers to avoid abrasion of the tile. For long-term maintenance, it is better to invest in resealing of the tiles when it is required.
The craftsman house involved in the project is over 100 years old. It’s a brown shingle craftsman very typical of the local homes and the owners are bringing it back to life little by little. The owners are both wonderful cooks (she’s French so of course!) and spend a lot of time in their well-used kitchen. The home was updated sometime in the 80’s and was ready for a serious face-lift. The clients wanted to incorporate a French/Moroccan style with the architectural elements of a craftsman. We think they succeeded!

This series of solid-colored encaustic tiles was created so that there’s always something to perfectly coordinate with any patterned encaustic. Use encaustic black cement tiles alone to make a monochromatic statement or mix and match with other solids and patterns to design a unique room. Even the solid colors of these wall and floor tiles will have natural variation and interest because they are hand mixed before being poured.
The technique of creating mission cement tiles came to Mexico through Spanish artisans. Handmade mission cement tiles take a special mold for each design. The process involves blending high quality white Portland cement, marble powder, fine sand, and natural mineral color pigments. Unlike other varieties, cement tiles do not use glazes or a kiln. Rather, they undergo hydrolysis and they harden through their soak in vats of water. Solidifying the material with a hydraulic press gives these tiles exceptional resistance and superior strength.
