I used them in this kitchen, above, that was installed in a 1920’s Spanish style renovation. It is still one of my favorites. Note: the floor tiles weren’t properly sealed the first time (if at all, I don’t remember and it wasn’t my contractor) so they got really dirty really fast. I had to have them professionally scrubbed and then resealed but they definitely still had a lot of wear from those couple days of no-sealant days. It actually looks great because its an old house but if you had a new house you might not be so into it.
Does that necessarily make it bad? I grilled the tile pro who did beautiful things with subway and hex tiles in our third floor Airbnb bathroom. James Taylor has been tiling for almost 20 years and there were no ifs, and, or buts when it came to his feelings about cement tile. "I don't even know why it was ever made, to be honest with you," he said.
One of the most classic cement tile designs is the intricate floral or Moorish pattern. This look dates back to the early 20th century and is just as popular today. The options for this type of traditional pattern are endless, ranging from colorful and bright to serene and neutral. Depending on the style of your home, you can add a unique flair to your kitchen with backsplash cement tile.
Concrete tiles are often produced by local manufacturers and use recycled materials, such as crushed glass, recycled aggregates, and silica fume (a byproduct from other industrial processes). In addition, concrete tiles are so durable, they rarely require replacement. If you ever do decide to replace them, the concrete can be recycled. The Ciment cement floor and wall tile in blue and white sky offers a monochrome blue old-world design set on a white background. These tiles are set on a 1” cement base where color is poured over it into a mold, pressed in a hydraulic press and baked at extremely high temperatures. These handmade tiles offer natural variations and chips, which are reflections of traditional cement tile. Best for interior floors and walls, these and all cement tiles require sealing. Please refer to the sealing...
Adhesive, tile spacers, notched trowel, bucket, tape measure, grout and grout sponge. Tip: Pick a grout color that complements your tile, avoid an exact color match. Select one that will be easy to keep clean and try to stay away from bright white, unless you love scrubbing. Seal the cement tiles with a penetrating sealer like HydraGuard first. Install it. Then seal the grout. The sealer protects from grout staining. Premixed grout with sealer is not the best, so use with sanded grout and then seal it. It’s a far better process and better protection.
not typically a fan of shades of green, we decided to begin to collect emerald-colored images onto a pinboard to see if they continued to capture our curiosity. we can’t believe it’s already managed to become one of our favorite pinboards. inspired by these beautiful images we have added green colorways to many of our cement patterns and even our watermark! who knew shades of green would capture us and our clients curiosity in such a big way?
Clarity is important! Please note: we are not responsible for the accuracy of measuring your project, or for how the materials are utilized. Your tile contractor or building professional is responsible for that. We highly recommend that you communicate clearly, effectively, and often, with your tile contractor and all involved in your tile project design.
I was super exciting. The moment I entered I felt welcomed. They had a great selection, beautiful designs, great colors to choose from. I decided to go with intricate Fassi design tiles, which represented the true Moroccan beauty as well as it would brighten up my kitchen. For the flooring, the Sala sheets composed of 2x2 inch Moroccan tiles in the color bone looked remarkable.

Similar to the previous place, it’s a gallery style set up with a vast Arabesque mosaic pattern as the focal point. The reddish-brown earth tone chosen for the walls is the perfect backdrop for the firm’s handcrafted ceramic tile products, and it’s not unlike some of the colors you can find in the Medina of Marrakech. The sea grass flooring, the water feature surrounded by moss, the succulents featured in the soffit niches, the custom made brass lanterns, and the eclectic world music all provide for an almost spa-like experience.
Items that state "ships within 10-12 weeks" are made to order, with the 10-12 weeks being the production time. We are not able to expedite the production time as each tile is produced by hand one at a time and then requires time to fully cure so they do not break while in transit. After this 10- 12 week period the order will ship from our warehouse and transit time should be 1-7 business days.
The pigment composition is a mixture of high quality white Portland cement, marble powder, fine sand, and natural mineral color pigments. The individual patterns are made by manually applying separate pigments, one by one, in a handmade copper mold. This incredibly delicate and skilled process can only be performed by highly trained artisans with many years of experience creating handmade encaustic cement tile.
