Best MacBook (2021): Which model should you buy?

Other features include an advanced speaker and microphone, a slightly brighter 13-inch screen, longer battery life and a touch bar at the top of the keyboard (if you consider this an advantage). This is the only MacBook that Apple now sells with the Touch Bar. The whole thing is a bit heavier than the MacBook Air (3 pounds vs. 2.8 pounds), but it matches its size and is still very thin.

Like the MacBook Air with the M1, you can run mobile apps on the MacBook Pro. Find an app in the Mac App Store and you’ll see a new tab for “iPhone and iPad Apps”. Not all mobile apps are available – developers have to choose – and those that are available can be inconvenient to see and view, as they are clearly designed for an interface that uses a touchscreen, this machine does not have a hardware feature. However, as soon as these apps are better optimized for the MacBook, you can pick up exactly where you left off when switching from your iPhone to Mac (or vice versa).

If you have too much on your laptop and are stopping working on apps like Adobe Premiere Pro, but you want to keep your budget to a minimum, this is the middle MacBook option to use. You can always connect a multiport adapter to get more connections. The downside is that it only starts with 8GB of RAM. That’s probably enough, because Apple’s memory management with the M1 processor is significantly better than before, but for video editing, you can ask for 16 GB of extra headroom.

Which M1 chip is right for you?

Now that Apple is not one but offers Three Internal chipsets, choosing the right one may seem a bit overwhelming. It depends on what you plan to use the MacBook.

M1: This is the base-level chip of the lineup. It supports up to 16 GB of unified memory (RAM) at an additional cost up to a 7-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. It’s much faster than any previous Intel-powered MacBook Pro, and it’s a practical choice for most people. It packs More Simple everyday tasks, even light gaming, and it can handle more intense tasks like photo and video editing.

M1 Pro: The next step from M1 is M1 Pro. The CPU has up to 10 cores and a 16-core GPU (up to 32 GB with unified memory). Apple says both performance and graphics are twice as fast as the M1. We still need to keep it through Ringer, but it’s one that works extensively on MacBooks for music production, photo and video editing, and 3D model rendering.

M1 max: It is the most powerful M1 of them all. Like the M1 Pro, the M1 Max has a 10-core CPU but a 32-core GPU (with support for unified memory up to 64GB). Apple says it’s four times faster than the M1 in terms of graphics. We haven’t tested it yet, but if you want the best of the best, that’s it. It has the option to edit multiple streams of 8K or 4K video footage, gaming, or developing apps and demos. You probably already know if you need so much energy.
